Wow! It's already July 7th! How'd that happen? This summer is flying past me at breakneck speed. One reason is all the time I have been using with dog training.
Speaking of dogs (yeah, you knew it was coming!), please be mindful of keeping them in the car on these hot, steamy days. Dogs do not sweat as effectively as we humans do. They release heat via their tongue by panting, the pads of their feet, and some via their ears. But those are incredibly small surface areas! Either leave them at home, or get them out of the car and to a shady area.
How did you and your dog make out with the fireworks? If your dog is terrified of the sound, do not try and comfort them by saying, "It's okay, etc." What you are doing is praising their being terrified. Same thing when you are at the vets or anytime that your dog is afraid. One of the best things, if you can, is to run them through their obedience. It has a tendency to normalize things to a certain extent.
Make it a great day!
