Dog Days & Training

Wow! The car's temperature gauge yesterday said 103! Talk about the Dog Days of Summer. Actually, the phrase has nothing to do with heat and your dogs (although you want to be sure that they have plenty of water and shade - consider bringing outside dogs in to cool down). It comes from the fact that the Dog Star is rising in the sky. Ancient Romans thought that the star added to the extreme heat of the summer.

Today I decided to brave the heat & headed out to train early this morning. I worked with the sweetest German Shepherd! Please be careful not to judge breeds as being vicious - one of the nicest dogs I know is Lincoln, who is a "pit bull" and a therapy dog. One of the nastiest was a tea cup poodle with an attitude (and predisposed to bite when you wanted her to lie down).
