The calm after the storm...

I know, everyone thinks that teachers have the summers off, and I am sitting here at home sipping some coffee; but, hey, I think I earned today.

Puppy Love

Puppy Love at the James V. Brown library was its usual great. We had one dog that weighed in at over 100 pounds and one that was about 3. Logan, ever the ham, had his head in a kid's lap at one point. Remember we meet once a month on the second Monday. Support your local library!

Tuesday

The 8th Grade Celebration was held on Tuesday (along with another round of principal interviews). I was so proud of the presenters, Dylan, Marina, Bacil, and Justice. They did an awesome job in being the hosts of the assembly. Mr. F put together a great video of the year. This was followed by lunch (special shout out to Mrs. Daneker and Mrs. Fischer & the rest of the PTO) and time to socialize and watch movies.

The evening was spent celebrating the retirement of Mrs. Waldman at the Villa. We go waaayyy back, and I even taught 2 of her children. Enjoy your retirement - we will miss you.

Wednesday

Clerical days are always a nice time to regroup. I finished my grades and got some other things caught up. Lunch was a working meeting for the Act 211 committee run by my good friend Mrs. Herman, amazing how her name keeps coming up!

The evening was spent in the company of the administration of WASD. I saw several friends who were originally from 'Sock. Nice evening.

Thursday

After a terrific performance by the jazz band and wonderful video, we headed to the high school auditorium for the Tootsie Roll Awards and year book signing. And then, suddenly, the year was over. Rehearsal for the Commencement in the evening, lunch with Mr. C and Mr. M, and suddenly I am at home waiting to return for the evening.

Commencement was outstanding! Ok, the weather was not great, and there was a last minute shift to inside. But, the Governor as the speaker? Wow. A hawk delivering the diplomas? Wow. Fireworks afterwards? Wow. Just amazing. I thought the student speakers did a great job.

Today

So that takes me back to where I began, sitting at the computer and sipping coffee (almost empty by now). I need to go back and handle some last minute items that I decided that I did not want to rush. One of my goals over the summer is to revamp some of my curriculum.

Make it a great day!
