A Rather Nice Day...

The newest project that I am working on is going great! My 8th graders are playing the role of career counselor and researching 3 careers for their "client." They are to then pick the most suitable of the three. Almost everyone of my employees has made quota. Fantastic!

C.O.O.L. Day!
Okay, I have to be honest that I really badgered them to get a placement today. I really believe that if they go to job shadow a career that they are interested in, they get a much better idea of the big picture. All of the sudden, they are much more mature. Nothing would make me happier than to have no one to teach that day - and it's not because I want a day off.

Off topic - Logan and the Williamsport Home

Tonight we went to the Williamsport Home. Apparently there was a scheduling glitch, and we were not expected. That actually was better for us in that we got a chance to just go and visit without being a show. Jazzy and Logan were invited into the Alzheimer's unit. That was a very rewarding visit.

Make it a great evening!

My daughter was involved in the early days of take your daughter to work, then it evolved into take your kid to work. Both of my children shadowed their mother. Then, it evolved into C.O.O.L. day and my daughter shadowed me. My daughter liked them all. Especially, getting the day off from school to shadow, daddy.
I was doing the ocean unit, then, and now she is a marine biology major at Texas A&M University, at Galveston. I was in a wheelchair, then. And, I thought she spent the day cruising the hallways in my chair.
I like how Mr. Fausnaught tweaked this day to include a writing assignment of the day.
I can't wait to hear about the career choices your munchkins are exploring.
