Gearing Down from Conferences - Up for Thanksgiving!

Blogging!
Today was very interesting. I had my students form questions that they would be willing to blog and then vote on which were the best. The next step was to create a blog page on my web site. I did goof up a little by forgetting to allow comments (exactly what a blog is supposed to do!) but had that fixed before 1st period was ready to comment. So far I think I have 166 comments. I tried to explain that I really wanted the student point of view - and would love to also have comments from their parents (so if you are reading this... how about going to the page Blogging Student Led conferences & putting down your thought?). I think that it was a fair representation.

A Vegetarian Thanksgiving - what do we eat anyway?

Actually, everything but the meat. Stop and think - potatoes, yams, green bean casserole, dressing (without juice from the turkey), mushroom gravy instead of regular, the rolls, the cookies, the pies - much more than you think! We don't eat marshmallows (made with gelatin) or Jello (same reason). I am having my brother in from Allentown and am serving roasted acorn squash with stuffing.

Make it a great evening!

meat or no meat -- food is food. I can't eat turkey or stuffing and am limited on veggies. Gravy? -- no, no, no. . . Sugar-free pie and/or Jello is all the dessert I can handle. Hmmmmm, the choices are slim, but, then again, I am thankful for the chance to add a few more years to my life and terrorize a few more incoming sixth graders before my time is through. I am also thankful for a teacher that has taken the bull by the horns and has become a driving force in bringing us into the 21st Century. You, my dear lady, are awesome.
